Doctrine vs. Scripture

Now I looked all these up myself this isnt some list I found. I did this for myself to get my mind around what I felt God has been leading me to. This is why I am a biblicists and I think it is unwise to stand on the teachings of man. I could have used Reformed Theology (also known by its latin name "almost calvanism") or Arminianism or perhaps even the baptist faith and message but I know the Calvinistic arguments the best so I will go with them.

Calvinism says: Total Depravity
The Bible says:
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Matthew 25:40If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 1 Corinthians 3:14-15

Calvinism says: Unconditional Election
The Bible says:
But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation. Mark 3:29That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:9Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God. Luke 12:8For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:10Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him Romans 6:8

Calvinism says: Limited Atonement
The Bible says:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: Peter 3:18For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1 Corinthians 15:3For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Romans 3:24Acts 11:7-11 And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat. But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth. But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven. And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me.

Calvinism says: Irresistible Calling
The Bible says:
He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. John 12:48But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God. Luke 12:9So, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you. 1Thes 4:8Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. John 3:11And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them. Luke 9:5

Calvinism says: Perseverance of the Saints
The Bible says:
If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. Hebrews 6:6Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 1 Cor 9:24For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; Hebrews 3:14And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.Mt 10:22

ok now all that research done, I still believe all the scriptures that Calvinsits use to support their doctrine. We cant just cut them out of the bible or ignore them or try to explain them away as they have tried to do with these inconvenient passages I have been lead to over the last few months. No any doctrine we develop to try to understand the bible must come from the Holy Spirit and not man. Ultimately that is the downfall of Calvinism: A strict interpretation of all scripture according to a mans understanding.

Now I have told you before what I believe about the 3 parts of salvation. That was shown to me by a man. Dr. Miller actually. But he encouraged me to look for myself and seek the Holy Spirit in the matter to which I consistently do. In the beginning I was tempted to paint almost every scripture with the "key of three" brush. I wanted to see the whole bible through this new understanding. Ultimately though as my relationship with the Lord grew I saw the teaching for what it was a help to understanding salvation and my ongoing role in it and not a means of interpreting all scripture. I sometimes think that these "simplifications" which we call "doctrines" are only stepping stones not meant to be permanent but cast aside as our relationship grows deeper. If the bible could have been made simpler and the oracles of God fit into some simpler outline or package then I think it would have been by God himself. God is being as simple and straightforward as he can be and still be accurate. -but alas that is only an idea of mine and not taken from the word either.

At the end of the day I shall rest my head and my salvation on what I read and what the Lord shows me and I will try very hard to leave my own doctrines on the desk where they belong.
